Our Story

James graduated from UMass Amherst in 2021. After some experience with private tutoring, he became frustrated with what his biologist brain saw as a positive feedback loop. Families with money could pay for quality tutoring, which led to those students attending better schools on average, making more money on average, and continuing the cycle for their own children.

No one can blame parents for wanting the best for their children, but what about those parents who could not afford quality tutoring? James contacted his friends from UMass Amherst and proposed a solution: free need-based tutoring and college prep for the students who need it most. In December 2022, we founded Education Equity Mentorship Company to do just that!
